Fairbanks, Alaska, 29 May - 3 June 2016
The annual Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (SuperDARN) Workshop brings together a broad spectrum of scientists, students, and engineers from over 10 countries to discuss new research results in magnetospheric, ionospheric, and upper atmospheric physics, review technical and data analysis developments, and coordinate the network operations and sharing of the data. Contributions are welcome on any subject of interest to the community, not necessarily limited to research undertaken with SuperDARN. In 2016, the SuperDARN Workshop will be hosted by the Geophysical Institute of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The below webpage contains most important information on the SuperDARN Workshop 2016. For any other queries, contact Roman Makarevich <rmakarevich at alaska.edu>.
Travel to and in Fairbanks
Fairbanks international airport (FAI) is serviced by Alaska Airlines and Delta, with several daily non-stop flights from Anchorage (ANC), Seattle (SEA), and Minneapolis/St Paul (MSP).
Most flights from the contiguous United States arrive between 8 pm and 2 am (one notable exception is flight AA 123 that arrives at 4:37 pm on Sunday May 29).
AIRLINK SHUTTLE SERVICE at (907) 452-3337 is available in traveling around Fairbanks.
The rates from the airport are as follows:
- 1-3 people $10.50 ($3.50 per person or 1 person @ $10.50)
- Each additional person greater than three persons = $3.50
- $1.00 per bag
Taxis are available at the airport. Rates from the airport: $20-$28.
There is a bus transit system within walking distance of the Westmark Hotel. Rate: $1.50 (one way) or $3.00 (day pass).
